About Take One
Cambridge Picturehouse Review and Official Cambridge Film Festival Publication
TAKE ONE is an independent film journal run by volunteers. It evolved in 2011 from the original Film Festival Daily as the official source of news, reviews and interviews on all films screened during the Cambridge Film Festival. The first hard copy issue of TAKE ONE was distributed around Cambridge on September 8th, and the website runs throughout the year.
On this site you will find a complete archive of all reviews and interviews from the 2011 Cambridge Film Festival, including interviews with John Hurt, Gary Oldman, Paddy Considine and Nicholas Winding Refn – not to mention film makers and performers you maybe haven’t met yet such as Jos Stelling and Marc Senter. You will also find selected articles from previous Cambridge festivals.
Film festivals we have covered include the Cambridge African Film Festival, the London Korean Film Festival, the Brighton Film Festival, the Norwich Film Festival and the Aesthetica short film festival in York. We will be covering the Cambridge Silent Film Festival in print as well as online, and from here on we will continue to keep you abreast of all things Picturehouse, whilst reporting back from events and film festivals around the world.
We promise that we will do our best to do our duty to film makers and film lovers, to entertain, encourage and inform, and never to carp at or crap on good, honest film. Stick around, chums.
